Geocity Project
Get ready to have some fun while applying your knowledge of geometry! This project will be done in groups of 2 or individually and will mostly be done in class (although you may have to do your finishing touches at home if time runs short).
Here’s what you do:
- Pick a theme for your city. We’ll brainstorm ideas in class.
- Create your city, using the guidelines on the rubric.
- Bring a flat piece of cardboard (approx. 16"x20") to class on which to build your city. No need to go buy anything! Root around in your garage for an old box to cut up. (But ... if you prefer, you may purchase foam board from an art supply store.)
- If you’d like to put people, cars, planes, boats, etc. in your city, you may bring mini versions of these from home. This is not a requirement. Just if you want your city to seem more real.
- After I have graded your Geocity, you and your partner will use www.smore.com to make a brochure advertising your city. Your brochure will tell us why we would want to visit your city. Also, it will name the buildings and the 3D shapes they are made from, the streets and the types of lines they form, your transformations, angles, etc. Your best guide to ensure you include every attribute of your city is to “march through your rubric.”
- Good luck ... and have fun!
